Kate O’Flynn could be seeing double when she attends the Golden Globes and SAG Actor Awards in a few months. Gold Derby’s expert prognosticators are forecasting a path where the English actress can be recognized on both the TV and film side at those respective ceremonies thanks to the one-two punch of Apple TV‘s Emmy-winning phenomenon Widow’s Bay and Mike Leigh‘s acclaimed feature film, Tender Loving Care.
O’Flynn’s nomination for the former is essentially assured following her Best Comedy Supporting Actress win at the Primetime Emmys last month. She’s in a four-way tie for the No. 1 spot on our Best TV Supporting Actress leaderboard for her Widow’s Bay role as Patricia Moyer alongside The Pitt‘s Katherine LaNasa, Hacks‘ Hannah Einbinder, and DTF St. Louis‘s Linda Cardellini, who also won an Emmy for her supporting role on that HBO series.

Meanwhile, our oddsmakers have her in a three-way tie for the pole position on the Best TV Comedy Actress race at the SAG Actor Awards, which doesn’t have separate supporting actor categories. O’Flynn’s rivals are Jean Smart for the final season of Hacks and Elle Fanning for the first season of Margo’s Got Money Troubles.
With Abbott Elementary‘s Quinta Brunson and The Comeback‘s Lisa Kudrow respectively occupying the No. 4 and No. 5 spots, O’Flynn is currently predicted to be the only supporting performer seen as likely to make the cut in this category. The last Best Comedy Supporting Actress winner at the Emmys to also claim the Best TV Comedy Actress statuette from SAG voters was Ayo Edebiri for The Bear in 2023.

On the film side of things, O’Flynn’s Tender Loving Care odds are on the rise in SAG’s Best Film Supporting Actress category, where she’s made double-digit gains to currently occupy the No. 7 spot. That category is likely looking at a shake-up as prognosticators (and voters) choose between The Odyssey duo of Anne Hathaway and Samantha Morton, as well as Penélope Cruz’s dual contenders, The Invite and La Bola Negra, which could clear a path for O’Flynn to rise in the rankings.

Our experts also have O’Flynn in the mix for Best Film Supporting Actress at the Globes, where drama and comedy contenders share space. She’s occupying the No. 8 spot on that particular leaderboard behind Cruz’s La Bola Negra performance and All of a Sudden‘s Tao Okamoto, whose odds have dipped slightly in recent days.
With a little TLC — and lingering Widow’s Bay love — O’Flynn’s double act could still come to fruition.
