Spectrum’s New COO Makes Changes To Its Leadership

Spectrum is overhauling its operating structure and leadership ranks, according to an internal memo Cord Cutters News obtained. The memo, which was circulated by Nick Jeffery, Spectrum’s chief operating officer, on October 12, 2026.

Jeffery, who joined the company in early September after serving as CEO of Frontier Communications, wrote that he spent his first weeks examining how the company operates. He concluded that Spectrum’s large scale in broadband internet, its video assets, and its mobile offering represent genuine market advantages. At the same time, he said the company has not successfully turned those strengths into consistent outperformance against competitors or its own targets in recent years.

In response, Jeffery announced a simpler and flatter operating model effective immediately. The reorganization aims to bring decision-making closer to customers, reduce layers so the organization can act faster, and focus resources on the company’s two top priorities: returning to growth in core internet service and improving overall customer service.

As part of the changes, Adam Ray, chief commercial officer since 2022, and Sharon Peters, chief marketing officer for nearly five years, will leave Spectrum at the end of 2026. Ray has spent more than two decades at the company in a series of increasingly senior roles spanning sales and field operations, including nearly three years leading the Florida region. In his current position, he has overseen marketing, residential sales, Spectrum Business, and Community Solutions. His teams led the commercial rollout of Spectrum One, the company’s $1,000 Savings Guarantee, the introduction of the industry’s first Customer Commitment, video packaging centered on the Xumo Stream Box, and the recent launch of Spectrum products in former Cox Communications markets.

Peters joined Spectrum in 2016 and played a central role in establishing the Spectrum brand after Charter acquired Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks. During her tenure as chief marketing officer, she directed brand strategy, advertising, customer insights, media planning, and creative work across residential, Spectrum Business, and Community Solutions audiences. She led the 2024 introduction of the Life Unlimited brand platform alongside the Customer Commitment, oversaw the 2018 debut of Spectrum Mobile as the industry’s first converged mobile-and-internet offering, and most recently managed the rebranding and product launch for customers in the former Cox footprint.

Under the new structure, Jeffery’s direct reports will include Cliff Hagan in Customer Operations and Tom Monaghan in Field Operations, along with several newly designated leaders. Christian Ruiz will head Spectrum Consumer, Keith Dardis will lead Spectrum Business, and Jeff Breaux will oversee Spectrum Wholesale, which encompasses RapidScale and Segra. Those wholesale operations will continue to run separately from the rest of Spectrum for now. Simon Cassels has been named interim chief marketing officer while the company conducts a permanent search. Paul Woelk will handle Business Planning and Business Intelligence. Paul Marchand will serve in an interim Human Resources role while continuing to report to Charter CEO Chris Winfrey until a permanent head is named. Searches are also underway for a new Head of Integration and a Chief of Staff, with the latter role nearly selected.

Jeffery noted that the majority of employee roles will remain unchanged, although some reporting lines will shift. Leaders of affected teams are expected to communicate the practical implications in the coming days. The memo frames the reorganization as a way to increase speed, clarify accountability, and remove obstacles that interfere with both customer outcomes and employee effectiveness.

The changes arrive as Spectrum continues to navigate competitive pressure in broadband and the ongoing effects of cord-cutting on traditional video, even as the company works to integrate former Cox markets and expand its converged mobile and internet offerings. Jeffery closed by emphasizing the scale of the opportunity ahead and his determination that the company deliver what he has previously described as the Great Cable Comeback. The memo signals that he intends to pursue that goal with a leaner organizational design focused tightly on internet growth and service improvements.

Here is the new memo sent to Spectrum employees from the COO:

Team,

I am increasingly convinced that our unmatched scale in broadband internet, our distinctive video assets and attractive mobile offer are market advantages. However, in recent years we have failed to marshal those advantages into a winning strategy and have underperformed the markets, and our own expectations. In my first few weeks in the company, I’ve spent time carefully understanding how we operate and what we need to do to compete and win.

To this end, today, I’m announcing a simpler, flatter, operating structure. There are three reasons for this change: to get closer to our customers, to move faster with fewer layers, and to focus on our two biggest priorities – returning to core Internet growth and improving customer service.

Leadership changes

As part of these changes, Adam Ray, Chief Commercial Officer, and Sharon Peters, Chief Marketing Officer, will be leaving Spectrum at the end of this year.

Adam’s career spans more than 20 years at Spectrum with increasingly senior roles across sales and field operations, including leading our Florida region for nearly three years. As Chief Commercial Officer since 2022, he oversaw marketing, residential sales, Spectrum Business and Community Solutions. His team drove the commercial execution of Spectrum One, our $1,000 Savings Guarantee and the industry’s first Customer Commitment, along with our video packages built around the Xumo Stream Box, and most recently introduced Spectrum to customers in the former Cox markets.

Sharon joined Spectrum in 2016 and helped launch the Spectrum brand following the Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks transactions. In her nearly five years as Chief Marketing Officer, she led brand strategy, advertising, customer insights, media planning and creative for residential, Spectrum Business and Community Solutions. In 2024 she introduced Life Unlimited, alongside the Customer Commitment and oversaw the successful debut of Spectrum Mobile in 2018, marking the industry’s first converged offering of mobile with internet. Most recently she oversaw the rebrand and launch of our products to the former Cox customers.

Please join me in thanking Adam and Sharon for everything they have contributed to Spectrum over many years.

Our new structure

Effective immediately, alongside Cliff Hagan, Customer Operations, and Tom Monaghan, Field Operations, my direct reports will include:

  • Christian Ruiz — Spectrum Consumer
  • Keith Dardis — Spectrum Business
  • Jeff Breaux – Spectrum Wholesale, including RapidScale and Segra, which will, as of today, remain operationally separate from Spectrum
  • Simon Cassels – Interim Chief Marketing Officer; a search is underway
  • Paul Woelk – Business Planning and Business Intelligence
  • Human Resources – Paul Marchand, who will continue to report to Chris, will stand in until this new role is filled
  • Head of Integration – A search is underway for this new role
  • Chief of Staff – We are finalizing selection for this position

What this means for you

Most roles won’t change, however some reporting lines will. If you are affected, your leader will talk you through what this means in the coming days.

Our new organizational structure means we can move faster, be clearer about who is accountable, and more quickly fix the things that get in the way of our customers and our people.

We have a huge opportunity in front of us. I am determined that we will deliver The Great Cable Comeback.

Now we need to go after it and I’m excited to get started with all of you.

Nick
