Bre Tiesi is looking back at her marriage to Johnny Manziel.
If you didn’t know, the 35-year-old Selling Sunset star was married to the 33-year-old former NFL player from 2018 to 2021.
While appearing on Tuesday (November 3) episode of The Viall Files podcast, Bre shared some very rare comments about her marriage to Johnny while discussing her time on Special Forces: Worlds Toughest Test.
Bre reached out to Johnny and Dwight Howard about competing on Special Forces. If you didn’t know, Dwight competed on the first season of the Fox reality competition series while Johnny competed on season four. For her part, Bre appeared on season five, but voluntarily left in the middle of the course.
“I talked to Dwight and then my ex-husband, Johnny, was on it,” Bre said. “So, I talked to the two of them. Dwight was like, ‘I don’t know if you should do this,’ and then Johnny was like, ‘Absolutely.’ He’s, like, ‘You’ll probably get mad at some point, but aside from that, you should do it.’”
Bre then went on to look back at her marriage to Johnny.
“I mean, we went through a lot. We didn’t talk for years after our divorce,” Brie recalled. “I’m very big on, if you can take accountability and apologize and be an adult and talk things out, I’m happy to move forward.”
“Obviously, we loved each other at one point. We got married,” she continued. “So, I was like, ‘You know what? I respect and accept this apology and I appreciate it, and we can just be cool moving forward.’ I wouldn’t say we hang out often or talk every day, but we’re definitely cool.”
She also noted that Special Forces “was easy” in comparison to her marriage to Johnny and their eventual divorce.
“I think I just learned that I didn’t want to be married. I didn’t really want to be in that type of a serious relationship,” Brie admitted. “ I didn’t like anything about being married. I do really well on my own, and just the responsibility of it. Having to answer to him and just all the things that he was going through, I was like, ‘Maybe I’m really selfish. I don’t know, but this is just not it.’ I was just not happy. I think that was my biggest lesson, honestly.”
She added, “We were very toxic. It was not a healthy thing, and I think I learned a lot about myself. I had a lot of self-reflection because of that.”
Following her split from Johnny, Bre has been in a relationship with Nick Cannon and they welcomed son Legendary in 2022.
In another recent interview, Bre spoke about how she navigates co-parenting with Nick and the five other mothers of his 12 children.
