Time is on your side this weekend, so why not spend that extra hour watching something that bends the rules of time itself?

Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at 2 a.m. In most of the U.S., clocks will roll back to 1 a.m., giving you an extra hour to catch up on your watchlist. You could use it to revisit a sci-fi classic, get lost in a time loop, or watch a story about someone trying to rewrite history.

From Arnold Schwarzenegger’s legendary battle against a killer machine to the mind-bending puzzles of Christopher Nolan’s Tenet, there’s no shortage of ways to travel through time without leaving your couch.

Here are 11 movies and shows worth streaming during Daylight Saving Time weekend, with options for fans of action, comedy, superheroes, and science fiction.

The Terminator (1984)

If you’re going to spend an extra hour watching something about time travel, you might as well start with one of the genre’s biggest classics. James Cameron’s The Terminator follows a cyborg assassin sent from a post-apocalyptic future to kill Sarah Connor before she can give birth to the future leader of humanity’s resistance.

We recently looked back at the groundbreaking movie, marking 42 years since its original premiere, spawning a franchise that remains a landmark in sci-fi filmmaking. Led by Arnold Schwarzenegger’s performance that helped turn the film into a pop-culture phenomenon.

Its combination of time travel, artificial intelligence, and action influenced decades of science-fiction movies. Its vision of machines turning against humanity has also become more relevant as audiences continue debating the future of artificial intelligence.

Deja Vu (2006)

What if you could look into the past and stop a disaster before it happened? That’s the central idea behind Déjà Vu, an action thriller starring Denzel Washington as ATF agent Doug Carlin.

After a devastating ferry bombing, Carlin joins a secret investigation using advanced technology that allows officials to observe events from several days earlier. However, as he investigates the attack, he begins to realize that the technology might offer a way to change what happened.

Directed by Tony Scott, the film mixes a crime investigation with a time-bending science-fiction story. It’s a good choice for viewers who want their time travel accompanied by car chases, suspense, and a mystery that gradually gets more complicated.

Happy Death Day 2U (2019)

Groundhog Day meets a slasher movie in Happy Death Day 2U, the sequel to the 2017 horror hit.

Tree Gelbman thought she had escaped the nightmare of repeatedly reliving the day of her murder. However, the sequel introduces another time-loop problem involving her friends, a scientific experiment, and a new round of deadly complications.

The first film made our Halloween list, and its sequel expands the original’s premise. It doubles down with more science fiction while retaining the dark humor and murder-mystery elements that helped make the first movie a hit. Instead of merely trying to survive the same day, Tree must figure out how the time loop works and find a way to escape its consequences.

It’s a fun pick for anyone who wants a lighter, horror-comedy take on time travel rather than a complicated lesson in theoretical physics.

Tenet (2020)

Christopher Nolan’s Tenet takes the idea of moving through time and turns it into a spy thriller that asks viewers to pay close attention.

John David Washington stars as an operative recruited into a secret mission involving technology that allows objects and people to move backward through time. As he uncovers a threat to the future of humanity, he becomes caught in a conflict where cause and effect don’t always work as expected.

Rather than relying on a traditional time machine, the movie explores the idea of temporal inversion, creating action sequences in which events appear to run in reverse. The result is a film that rewards repeat viewings, since many of its details are easier to understand once you know where the story is headed.

If you enjoy movies that leave you debating the plot long after the credits roll, Tenet is an excellent way to spend your extra hour.

Back to the Future Trilogy (1985-1990)

Some time-travel stories are best experienced in one sitting, and Back to the Future makes a strong case for revisiting all three films.

The original follows teenager Marty McFly as he accidentally travels from 1985 to 1955 in Doc Brown’s time-traveling DeLorean. His attempts to return home lead to a series of complications involving his parents, his future, and the delicate relationship between past and present.

The sequels take Marty and Doc to the future and back into the past again, expanding the story into an adventure involving alternate timelines and family history. The trilogy became one of the most beloved science-fiction franchises of its era, thanks to its memorable characters, quotable dialogue, and imaginative take on the consequences of changing history.

With all three films on the watchlist, you can spend the extra hour revisiting the entire trilogy or just watching the original. Either way, it’s hard to go wrong with a DeLorean-powered trip through time.

Avengers: Endgame (2019)

Before there was Doom, there was a Time Heist. In the 2019 MCU spectacle, which became the highest-grossing film of all time, time travel becomes a matter of survival in Avengers: Endgame. The blockbuster brought together the first major chapter of Marvel’s interconnected cinematic universe.

After Thanos’s devastating actions in Avengers: Infinity War, the surviving heroes devise a plan to travel through time and collect the Infinity Stones before the villain can use them. Their mission gives the movie a chance to revisit pivotal moments from earlier Marvel films while exploring what it might take to undo a catastrophe.

The film became a worldwide cultural event, bringing more than a decade of interconnected superhero storytelling to a climactic turning point. Its approach to alternate timelines and the consequences of changing the past also made time travel central to the story’s emotional stakes.

For Marvel fans, it’s an opportunity to revisit some of the franchise’s most memorable moments before Doomsday arrives on December 18. With a 3-hour runtime, you’ll need more than your bonus hour to finish it.

12 Monkeys (1995)

Terry Gilliam’s 12 Monkeys offers a darker take on time travel, following a man sent from a devastated future to investigate the origins of a deadly plague.

Bruce Willis stars as James Cole, a prisoner who is sent back to gather information about the virus responsible for wiping out much of humanity. His mission becomes increasingly difficult as his memories, his understanding of events, and the possibility of changing the future begin to blur together.

Brad Pitt earned an Academy Award nomination for his supporting performance as Jeffrey Goines, adding to the film’s lasting reputation as an unusual and ambitious science-fiction thriller.

There’s also a television adaptation, 12 Monkeys, which expands the premise into a four-season story about time travelers trying to prevent a global catastrophe. The series is also available on Prime Video, giving viewers who enjoy the original movie a much longer adventure to explore.

Groundhog Day (1993)

Sometimes the best time-travel stories don’t need a time machine at all. In Groundhog Day, Bill Murray plays Phil Connors, a cynical weatherman who finds himself reliving the same day over and over again.

As Phil tries different ways to escape his seemingly endless February 2, he gradually changes how he treats the people around him and how he views his own life. The film blends comedy with a surprisingly thoughtful story about personal growth, second chances, and making the most of the time you have.

Its cultural impact extends well beyond the movie itself. The phrase “Groundhog Day” has become shorthand for an experience that feels like the same thing happening repeatedly, making the film one of the most recognizable examples of a time-loop story.

With the clocks going back this weekend, it’s an appropriately timed reminder that an extra hour can be an opportunity to do something differently.

X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014)

What if the only way to save the future was to change the past? That’s the challenge facing the X-Men in X-Men: Days of Future Past.

The story follows Wolverine as he is sent back to the 1970s to prevent an event that leads to a devastating future for mutants and humanity. Along the way, he must bring together younger versions of familiar characters and convince them to work together before history becomes impossible to change.

The movie was a major moment for the X-Men franchise because it brought the original film series’ cast together with the younger cast introduced in X-Men: First Class. Time travel provided a way to connect the different eras while opening new possibilities for the series. And with the tragic passing of Patrick Stewart, you rewatch one of his most iconic characters, Professor Xavier.

It’s an especially good choice for superhero fans who enjoy alternate timelines, high-stakes missions, and stories about whether changing one decision can alter an entire future.

Where to Watch X-Men: Days of Future Past: Disney+ | Hulu

See You Yesterday (2019)

See You Yesterday takes time travel out of the realm of futuristic spectacle and grounds it in a story about family, grief, and social injustice.

The Netflix science-fiction film follows two teenage inventors who develop makeshift time machines. When a tragedy changes their lives, one of them attempts to use the technology to go back and prevent it, discovering that changing the past can have dangerous consequences.

Directed by Stefon Bristol and produced by Spike Lee, the movie combines a coming-of-age adventure with questions about police violence and the limits of trying to undo a traumatic event. Its time-travel premise gives the story a sci-fi hook, but the emotional stakes are what set it apart.

For viewers who want something more grounded than a superhero blockbuster, See You Yesterday offers an inventive take on the familiar question of what we would change if we could go back in time.

Where to Watch See You Yesterday: Netflix

Lost (2004-2010)

Few television mysteries became as much of a weekly conversation as Lost. The series begins with the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 stranded on a mysterious island, but the story soon expands into a much larger puzzle involving the island’s history, strange phenomena, and the characters’ interconnected lives.

Time travel becomes an increasingly important part of the series, particularly as the survivors discover that the island doesn’t follow the same rules as the outside world. The show uses shifts in time, flashbacks, and later developments to complicate its central mystery and challenge viewers’ assumptions about what is happening.

Lost helped define the era of serialized television mysteries, encouraging audiences to piece together clues and debate theories between episodes. Its mix of science fiction, adventure, and character drama still makes it a rewarding binge for anyone who enjoys a story that unfolds gradually.

With all six seasons available on Hulu, you have plenty to watch beyond the extra hour. Just be warned: once you start asking questions about the island, you may find yourself watching long after the clocks have changed.

Where to Watch Lost: Hulu

Whether you prefer revisiting a classic like The Terminator, untangling Tenet, or spending a little more time on the island in Lost, Daylight Saving Time weekend offers a good excuse to settle in with a story that plays with the clock. After all, you have an extra hour. You might as well use it to travel through time.
