EXCLUSIVE: Stoic has acquired international sales rights (excluding North America) for Unbearable Christmas, the holiday comedy starring SNL alum Alex Moffat, Julia Stiles, David Cross, Caroline Rhea, Mena Suvari, and Stephen Root.
Stoic will officially launch sales for all available international territories at the upcoming American Film Market (AFM) in Los Angeles.
The international launch follows Vertical acquiring the domestic rights for a wide North American release this holiday season, and an accompanying streaming deal which is due to be announced soon.
Marking the feature directorial debut of writer-director Kevin Cate, the film “follows out-of-work weatherman Troy Tipton (Moffat) on a high-stakes holiday mission: get back the beloved family teddy bear he pawned for cash. With his wife Becca (Stiles), mother-in-law Dawn (Rhea), and kids in tow, Troy embarks on a chaotic road trip from Ohio to Florida in his old news van. The journey takes an unhinged turn when the family discovers the cherished bear is actually a priceless Teddy Roosevelt antique worth millions.”
Cate co-wrote the screenplay with Sennett. Pic is produced by Blake Sennett and Kevin Cate under Cate’s indie banner Clinging Vine Films. Rick Kearney, Julia Stiles, and Alex Moffat serve as executive producers.
