Tablo announced today that it’s 4th Generation app is now available for owners of Amazon Fire TV devices running on Amazon’s new Vega OS.
Amazon began using its own Vega OS, a Linux-based operation system that replaced the Android-based Fire OS, last year. Newer Fire TV devices run on Vega OS, and Tablo has developed a new app specifically for those devices.
The new Tablo app supports the following Fire TV models:
- Amazon Fire TV Stick HD
- Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Select
- Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K (3rd Gen)
To get the new app, select the magnifying glass on the far left of your Fire TV home screen. Search for Tablo and choose the Tablo TV app, then select Get or Download. Once the app is installed, open it and follow the on-screen prompts to connect to your Tablo.
Tablo ensures that the Amazon Appstore will deliver the version of the 4th Gen Tablo app that is compatible with your Fire TV Device. If you have an older Fire TV device and use the Tablo app, nothing will change for you.
With the newest version of the Tablo app, users will be able to record live TV while watching a show or movie without returning to the guide. Users will also notice improved overall performance with the new app. Tablo notes that the app was built with React Native, a newer set of app-building tools designed to work across multiple device platforms. It will be available to Android TV devices and older Amazon Fire TV devices using Fire OS in the coming months.
