Jeff Kober added a second Daytime Emmy to his trophy shelf on Friday for playing Cyrus Renault on General Hospital. The actor wasn’t able to attend the ceremony due to a “prior commitment with a theater gig,” so he sent his acceptance speech exclusively to Gold Derby. Watch the video above.
The Best Guest Performer winner thanks “all of the actors who made this happen,” especially his “GH family.” He also congratulates his “pal” Roger Howarth for winning Best Supporting Actor, adding that he now hopes General Hospital will “bring our characters back from the dead.” Hey, wilder things have happened!
Howarth made history for the longest gap between Emmy wins for a male performer at 32 years with his victory for The Young and the Restless as Matt Clark. He previously won Best Younger Actor for playing Todd Manning in One Life to Live in 1994. Howarth portrayed Franco Baldwin on GH from 2012 to 2023.
Kober is having a banner year as he was also nominated at the Primetime Emmys for playing Duke Ekins, a motorcycle-riding friend of Noah Wyle’s Dr. Robby, on The Pitt. Kober lost that Best Drama Guest Actor bid to co-star Ernest Harden Jr.
This year, General Hospital notched its sixth Best Daytime Drama Series victory in a row, and 19th overall. The medical soap also won Best Casting and Best Writing Team.
Kober’s first Daytime Emmy victory for playing Cyrus on General Hospital came in the Best Supporting Actor category in 2022. He was also nominated the prior year.
Cyrus was a drug kingpin and a main antagonist on GH who was killed in February 2025 by Josslyn Jacks in retaliation for Dex Heller’s murder. He hasn’t yet appeared in any of the 2026 episodes, so Kober is not currently eligible to compete at the 2027 Daytime Emmys.

Hey there. I want to say thank you to all of the actors who made this happen, and thank you especially to GH and my GH family. What a treat it has been to be with them. Sorry I wasn’t there last night. I had a prior commitment with a theater gig. I’m really sorry I didn’t get to see Genie [Francis] and the recognition by the Emmys she so richly deserves. Love you guys. Oh, also, congratulations to my pal, Roger Howarth. Maybe now GH will bring our characters back from the dead. Who knows? I see a storyline. Love to all. Thanks.
