Hayden Panettiere’s best show is leaving Netflix soon: Here are Juliette Barnes’ best scenes

The entertainment world is still grieving the unexpected death of actor and singer Hayden Panettiere. She’s been a fixture in many fans’ lives since she first appeared in Guiding Light and Remember the Titans. Many of us grew up alongside Panettiere, so she wasn’t just another actor. We related to her, especially her musical hits from the 2000s like “I Learned From You” or “Try.”

Many fans have rewatched their favorite Panettiere performances, whether from the Scream franchise, Heroes, or Nashville. The ABC musical drama combined the best of her talents, letting Panettiere use her singing talents and grow as an actress. She starred in Nashville from 2012 to 2018 alongside Connie Britton and Charles Esten. The drama featured emotional, soapy storylines and memorable musical performances, and Panettiere made Juliette Barnes one of the fiercest women.

Unfortunately, Nashville is leaving Netflix on September 15, so you only have a few weeks to relive your favorite Juliette Barnes moments or to experience Nashville for the first time.

Hayden Panettiere and Connie Britton were Nashville

Nashville appealed to many audiences because of the rivalry between Rayna Jaymes (Connie Britton) and Juliette Barnes (Hayden Panettiere). Neither woman liked being forced to work together, yet they worked in the music industry, where female artists were often pitted against one another. Juliette was a popular, rising star who even Rayna’s young daughters loved. While Rayna feared Juliette would steal her limelight, Juliette’s team thought she could learn from Rayna.

While the women experienced tension, they tried to keep their rivalry respectful. Their first duet, “Wrong Song,” blew audiences away as the women linked arms, channeled their collective frustrations, and showed what they could achieve.

Being flawed made Juliette relatable

While Juliette and Rayna’s rivalry was one of Nashville’s main draws, Juliette eventually became vulnerable and compelling enough that viewers enjoyed her on her own, too. We rooted for Juliette because she was a survivor. She endured a complicated childhood but lost her mother only after they reconciled.

Juliette struggled with trust issues, which hindered her relationships, but it’s something so many people understood. We wanted her to succeed not only in her musical career but also in finding love and family because she’d lost so many times before. It was inspiring to watch Juliette mentor Rayna’s daughter, Maddie, with the wisdom she’d learned from Glenn, her manager—you don’t give up on family.

Juliette’s music transformed from a pop princess to deeply soulful artist

When Nashville first premiered, Juliette appeared more like a sassy pop princess in contrast to Rayna’s veteran status. She knew how to wow a younger crowd with catchy tunes like “Boys and Buses” and “Telescope.” “Telescope” was the series’ first official single and gave Panettiere great publicity while also establishing Juliette. After her mom died, Juliette sang “Nothing in This World Will Break My Heart Again,” letting her vulnerability and pain shine through.

As the seasons progressed, her music became grittier and soulful, and she often sang duets with Avery. He stepped in to help her sing “Tomorrow Never Comes” when Juliette faced backlash from scandal. Avery became one of her biggest supporters, even when she mentioned her record label in a song. After that, her singing became more soulful, focused on her family, and more introspective about her depression.

Juliette and Avery were one of the most rootable couples

I love Juliette and Avery. They were both honestly flawed characters who messed up at different times. They loved each other, and they loved their daughter, but because of their past, it was challenging to jump in with both feet. I think they had an intense but realistic relationship at times.

However, the series enjoyed throwing multiple crises at them. They couldn’t just have a cheating or pregnancy crisis. Then Juliette had to become injured and work her way through that. Love was never their problem. They had way too many other issues, and Hayden Panettiere and Jonathan Jacken delivered layered performances every time. You cried with them, and you rooted for them to reconnect again.

Don’t miss out on Nashville before it leaves Netflix on September 14.
